Pratham Books (www.prathambooks.org) is a not-for-profit children's book publisher that was set up in 2004 to publish good quality, affordable books in many Indian languages. Our mission is to see ‘a book in every child’s hand’ and we have spread the joy of reading to millions of children in India. As a publisher serving every child in India, Pratham Books has always pushed the boundaries when it comes to exploring innovative ways in which to create access to joyful storybooks and have been fortunate in finding partners to collaborate with who share this vision.

In 2015, Pratham Books increased its footprint by going digital. As an industry leader, we were one of the first publishers in the country to open license our content. All this content is now available on StoryWeaver, which is a digital platform that hosts books in languages from India and beyond, so that every child can have an endless stream of storybooks in her mother tongue to read and enjoy. The books can be read, translated, versioned or downloaded for free. All books on the platform are openly licensed.

We are looking for a Content Manager for StoryWeaver.

Key responsibilities:

Work closely with the StoryWeaver product, content and partnerships teams to document impact stories and create an organization knowledge base on key insights and learnings.

  • Researching, documenting and publishing the StoryWeaver use cases and impact stories - qualitative and quantitative - through video and written case studies

  • Exploring multiple digital formats and generating thoughtful content pieces with long-term value (essays on Medium, podcasts, etc.) that strengthen StoryWeaver’s positioning

  • Working closely with cross-functional teams on reports, press releases, award and grant applications

  • Staying up-to-date with current technologies and trends in video production, social media, design tools and applications

  • Willingness to travel on work as and when required

Required Skills:

  • 4-8 years of experience in development sector communications

  • A passion for storytelling, narrative structure

  • Film-making, editing, knowledge of relevant video tools and software

  • Project management, ability to work with timelines

  • An eye for detail

Nice to have but not mandatory:

  • Previous experience in Marketing / Public Relations

Location:

This is a full-time position in our Bangalore office.

Compensation:

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

We are looking for a Data Analyst for StoryWeaver.

We are looking for a Data Analyst who will work closely with our product development team and other internal teams. They will discover the insights within the data sets, and help make smarter decisions to deliver better results for end users.

In this role, the person will be responsible for providing requirements for new features for collection of data, execute data validation checks, ensure data integrity, use statistical techniques to analyse and interpret data, take complete ownership of Google Analytics, identify trends and provide insightful reports to internal and external audience. We’re looking for a self-motivated, detail-oriented individual who loves digging into data, developing insights and communicating data-based recommendations. They will work closely with the internal teams and tech partners to implement recommendations, track the impact and course correct. 

The position will report to the Senior Product Manager of StoryWeaver but also requires working closely with the top management. The person needs to be an out-of-the box thinker and should be a strong believer and propagator of use of open technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with internal product owners to understand the target audience and their motivations, generate the product enhancement, development ideas and requirements docs.
  • Perform steps required to create analysis-ready data sets.

  • Perform regular data analysis to assess readership, content gap, trends and performances.

  • Extracting valuable insight from our data and generating analysis that drives user retention and conversion.

  • Build a visualization tool that allows internal users to interactively explore the data and insights.

  • Respond to ad-hoc report and analysis requests from other teams as needed.

  • Take all data driven features to fruition by working closely with the product development teams.

  • Be the bridge between organization and other data-for-good communities. 

Required skills

  • Bachelors in Computer Science, Statistics, Market Research, Operational Research, or related quantitative disciplines.

  • 2-4 years of experience in the industry

  • Experience working with data and analytics.

  • Good technical background with some hands-on experience with Python/R, relational databases (PostgreSQL) to perform data analysis.

  • Ability to interpret findings through data visualization and delivery of presentations to both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Expertise with Google Analytics and common Data Visualization platforms like Tableau, Apache Superset, Google DataStudio etc.

  • Strong analytical thought process, ability to extract data and transform it into valuable, actionable insight.

Nice to have but not mandatory:

  • Experience working with non-profits.

  • Experience with Machine Learning.

In the last 13 years we have published over 3000 books and printed over 14 million copies and 16 million storycards. In 2015, Pratham Books' increased its footprint by going digital. As an industry leader we were one of the first publishers in the country to open license our content. All this content in now available onStoryWeaver, our digital platform that hosts stories in 59 languages. The stories can be read, translated, versioned or downloaded for free. With both the print and digital initiatives being scaled, Pratham Books is looking for a Print Production Manager to take the lead of its print, production and digitization processes.

Job Description:

As a Print Production Manager you will be driving the management of a busy studio that can change from a quiet environment to one full of freelancers and multiple projects all running at the same time. Your job will be to manage the studio and production schedules as well as the day to day administrative responsibilities of running the studio of a reputed publishing house.

This is a job that requires attention to detail, organisation and time management. Clear communication and multitasking skills are a must.

We require an individual who is motivated, knows how to manage the requirements of book production that can require multiple cycles of reviews and adaptations for different platforms. Ability to prioritize workload to manage the studio schedule within the budgetary requirements.

You will work closely with the Editorial team to ensure timely delivery of all aspects of production for print and digital books - from layouts to pagination, optimizing image quality and proofreading to readying artworks, uploading digital books and QC (quality checking).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with editorial groups to create the final files for production of both print and digital formats of our books
  • Upload the digital books on StoryWeaver
  • Prioritize and manage timely output
  • Supervise the design and production team
  • Develop work procedures, establish quality standards and be responsible for releasing the final files
  • Schedule daily studio workload, coordinate approvals from different teams, manage version control etc
  • Train and monitor studio staff in all relevant skill areas.
  • Liaison with cross functional teams
  • Maintain an efficient archiving system
  • Maintain accurate records of work in progress for billing 

Must have:

  • 7-8 years experience of working within a creative agency / publishing house
  • A working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience in leading a mid-size team consisting of layout artists, DTP, Photoshop and artwork people
  • References to previous work

Salary: Subject to level of previous experience

Location: Delhi
